Poipu -
* Kauai Information: More information about Poipu *Beach House
The Beach House, right next door to Kuhio Shores, is the best all-round Poipu restaurant. This restaurant is now owned by the same owner as the famed Pacific Cafe in Kapa'a -- but it’s better because you don’t have to drive an hour to get there, and the view and setting are stunning at sunset. The food is creative east-west cuisine. You can sit in the bar and sample Pupu's or splurge on a complete dinner.Website: http://www.the-beach-house.com
Koloa Broiler
Has closed, and not a moment to soon... Pizzetta has move from down the block and cleaned up the old Koloa Broiler.
Keoki's Paradise
For tropical decor with waterfalls and funky greenery, Keoki's Paradise in Poipu Plaza center. The main dining room is good, but the more informal seafood and taco bar is outstanding in both quality and quantity .. fish tacos for under $5.00. If you take along a coupon (usually on the counter at the nearby Whalers store) they will give you a large free ice cream "mud pie" dessert which itself has a $4.00 value.Roy's
The upscale Roy’s restaurant, with white tablecloths and nouvelle cuisine, also located in Poipu Plaza, serves very fine food, but be sure to make a reservation and/or go early. Many nights, there are no tables available.Thai Restaurant
Poipu Plaza has a very recent Thai restaurant with excellent and imaginative curries, spicy or mild, salads, Thai iced tea, and a variety of other Eastern-inspired dishes.Hyatt
The Hyatt buffet for breakfast or dinner is very well presented and high quality. Weekday & Saturday breakfast is considerably less than the Sunday brunch.ZELO's Beach House
Actually - ZELO's Beach House in Hanalei, Kauai serves the best Blackened Ahi in the world.Chris and Philippa from Salzburg, Austria
Joes Courtside Cafe in Poipu
In our opinion... Joes courtside cafe in Poipu at the Kiahuna tennis club is a perfect place for breakfast or lunch. Set among beautiful Bougainvillea and overlooking the tennis courts, the food is excellent and the service very friendly. Very hard to miss but be sure to look for it. Also, we feel the tide pools restaurant at the Hyatt is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. Individual thatched huts overlooking ponds serve wonderful food, fish is excellent and the service is great. Makes for a perfect evening. Thanks for listening to our comments.

Oki Diner
Oki Diner in Lihue serves very good, reasonably priced food in quantities to satisfy even a hungry tourist who just can't see spending more than you have to for a good meal. "Roy's" is fine, along with all those other fancy eating establishments, but most of us don't eat that kind of food at home (pricey) so why think just because we are on vacation we will, if we don't have to. During our one month stay, one of he biggest complaints we heard from other tourists was how expensive it was to eat out. We told many people about Oki Diner. P.S. They also make a fantastic Lilikoi Pie! AND a lot of "locals" eat there too.AUNTIE ONO'S DINER KOUNTRY KITCHEN

Duke's Canoe Club
This restaurant has the same owner as Keoki's restaurant. They both offer great environments, but Dukes is located at the Kauai Marriott and offers an open air environment where guest can have a waterfall view or an ocean view. Live music is played in the dining room every evening and down below is where locals and visitors hang out in the "Barefoot Bar" which serves a lighter menu and offers live entertainment Thursday-Sundays. Duke's Kauai is located in Lihue and hours are:Barefoot Bar - 11:30 a.m. - midnight
Dining Room - 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
A must at Dukes is the ultimate Hula Pie dessert! I love this place, I worked there!

Neide's Salsa & Samba
I am from California and have come to love your island. Each time we visit we look forward to eating at Neide's Salsa & Samba. I have the menu in front of me now! Everything is good on the menu! The service is outstanding and the owner is a woman with an incredible history! Prices range from 3.50 for the lowest cost item to the highest priced item at 13.95 and that meal will feed the whole family! Go check them out! They are worth listing!
